Haus of Fashion is Open!

We had some fun in class today, creating different fashion designs and combining materials to create fun fashion items.  I think it's a great way to build imagination and creativity.

Nikita's 3rd Class

Today with Nikita we delved into animation.  Nikita found out about a sculptor Alexander Calder, who came up with a movable wire circus and created the first mobile.  Nikita made wire people animation and learned about how computer animation works in the program Adobe Flash.  Nikita learned about animation on different layers in the Flash timeline.  It was a blast!

The making of "This is Halloween" cartoon with Sam.

Animation studio is open at Kids Eye View.  Today with Sam, we created a small cartoon with his favorite topic these days - Halloween.  We based our cartoon on Tim Burton's famous masterpiece "Nightmare before Christmas".  Our own "masterpiece" is below.
We chose the opening number "This is Halloween".  First Sam created a story board, then we made the movable modeling clay characters and Sam created a "stage" for them to "perform".  We then animated the cartoon on the computer.  Sam has the priviledge to take all day for his lesson :)  When I give 1 hour lessons, this would be condensed and broken up into several lessons.  As well, the result will be more detailed and the child will absorb more of the concept with every consecutive lesson.

Nikita's 1st Class

Nikita came in for his first class today.  We explored working with oil and dry pastels.  From his lesson, I noticed he has a good sense of composition and colors.  He also told me he prefers to draw scenes and nature to people.  Here is a scene of an ocean adventure he went on with his parents :)

Drawing on location

Sam and I went to draw on location.  It's the type of drawing you do outside, or inside at some new unfamiliar location, or one where you go often.  But it's "live", ie, it's not a photo, but actual objects, people, scenes, that lead a child to learn how to create a composition, how to capture a moment in time.

For older kids, this process will help them learn scale, perspective, what to make more prominent and important, what to tone down.

Welcome to Kid's Eye View!

Hello and welcome to our little art studio :)  Here is a place just for creative kids!

Do you want your kid to learn how to use paints, pastels, pen and inks?  And what about learning art history, different painters and art movements? Do you want them to be well rounded in general and to explore how they view the world through art?

If you want to develop your child's inner talents, this is the place.  We generally start from 5 - 6 years old.  Not only is this class educational, it is also fun. Come and give it a try!

I will post your child's drawings and progress on this blog.  Check in often :)
